George C. Miller, Sr.

George C. Miller, Sr. , age 75, of Vickery, died Thursday February 21, 2013 at his residence.

He was born October 17, 1937 in Branchland, WV and was employed by LTV Steel in Cleveland. He delivered for Meals on Wheels, volunteered at the Senior Center, and played dart ball with the Erie County Dart ball League. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs; fishing; hunting; and camping. George also enjoyed building stock cars, where he was Ohio State Champion stock car racer for 8 years, and also was champion drag racer for 6 years with the NHRA.

He is survived by his second wife Ginny; 1 daughter Charlotte (James) Durkos of Confluence, PA; 2 sons George (Janis) Miller Jr. of Toledo and John (Linda) Miller of Vickery; 5 grandchildren Eric Miller, Loretta Miller, Ashley Stockwell, Allison Leckrone, McKenna Leckrone; 1 great grandson Bentley Miller; nephew Kenneth Miller of Cleveland; step-children Donald and Linda McKillips of Castalia, Debi Chapman of Castalia, Allan and Jill McKillips , Keith and Sue McKillips, and Julie McKillips all of Sandusky, Cyndi Boggs of Bellevue, Ginger and Tom Moses of Clyde, Bill and Suzanne McKillips of Sandusky, Rob and Jenn McKillips of Norwalk, and Vicki and Mike Chamberlain of Sandusky; 29 step-grandchildren; 34 step-great grandchildren; and 4 step- great great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his first wife Loretta Miller; his parents; 2 brothers Ray and Marvin Miller; grandson Jay Miller; and his favorite companion Brandy Lynn.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, until time of a memorial service at 11 AM in Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. The Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate.
