Edward R. Sampsell

Edward R. Sampsell, 80, of Sandusky died unexpectedly Sunday evening, February 24, 2013 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.

He was born December 6, 1932 in Fremont and was a 1950 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran. Ed retired from Owens Illinois Castalia Farms, where he was employed for 25 years. Prior to this, he worked as a Sandusky Barber. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Sandusky, The Senior Men's Fellowship Club and Commodore Denig Post 83, American Legion. Ed loved being a true family man; husband, father and grandfather, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Jeanette J. Adams, two sons: Dean E. (Amy) Sampsell of Sandusky, Derek A. Sampsell of Huron, three grandchildren: Tyler D. Sampsell, Holly E. (Bradley Walker II) Sampsell and Brooke A. (Mark Letson) Sampsell, two great grandsons: Andrew and Jayce, one brother: Tom (Patty) Andecover of Fremont, three sisters: Lela (Bill) Foultner of Kailispell, MT., Peggy Reed of Fremont and Sharon (Kent) Smith of Fostoria, two brother-in-laws: Mark (Linda) Adams of Sandusky, Warren (Kathy) Leonard of Port Clinton, one sister-in-law: Dollie Ash of Keene, N.H., nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Hap & Evelene (Henry) Andecover and one brother: Bruce O. Sampsell.
Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky and from 10:00 AM Thursday, February 28, 2013 until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church 2211 Mills Street, Sandusky, Ohio. The Rev. Alan R. Swartz will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
