Virginia K. Opper

Virginia K. Opper, 83, of rural Willard, died Sunday afternoon, February 24, 2013 in the Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk following a lengthy illness.

She was born October 3, 1929 in Monroeville and was a 1947 graduate of Monroeville High School. Virginia was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, a former Red Hatter, and was an avid card player and gardener. She was employed for 37 years as a Bus Driver for Monroeville Public Schools and Christie Lane, retiring in 2000.

She is survived by her children: Dennis Van Fleet of Monroeville, Douglas Van Fleet of Plymouth, Donald (Missy) Van Fleet of Shelby, Debra (Dave) Nill of Las Vegas, NV., Susan (Allan) Lesch of Norwalk, Robert Opper of rural Willard, Ronald Opper of Houston, TX., and William Opper of Maggie Valley, N.C., 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, two sisters: Alice Bores of Monroeville, Helen Hicks of Willard, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Chester Opper in 1991, sons: David Van Fleet, Richard Opper, her parents: Charles & Mary (Krebs) Roeder, two brothers: Charles & George Roeder, and one sister: Mabel Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, February 28, 2013 in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Settlement Road, Norwalk. The Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 780 Park Avenue West, Mansfield, Ohio 44906-3009.
