Raymond R. Parcher, 79, of Norwalk, died Friday evening, March 1, 2013 at his residence.

He was born August 29, 1933 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Ross and Cora (Thompson) Parcher, and was a lifelong area resident. Ray served in the Korean Conflict with the 76th Engineering Battalion of the U.S. Army . He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Norwalk, and enjoyed playing on the church dartball team for many years. He was a 1952 graduate of Margaretta High School where he ran track, played football and was on the 1952 Margaretta Championship Basketball team. He was a journeyman carpenter having worked with Hinde Development and Leo Kaufman Construction. He also worked for Taystee Bread, B.F. Goodrich and retired from Tenneco Automotive Clevite in 1994. He was a youth baseball coach, was a former president of Western Reserve Athletic Boosters, and was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriet (Schnee) Parcher of Norwalk, Ohio, by his children, Rebecca Parcher of Norwalk, Ohio, Timothy and Darla Parcher of New London, Ohio, Laura Winkler of Norwalk, Ohio, and Amy Parcher of Kane, Pennsylvania; by his grandchildren, Kyle Winkler, Michael Parcher, Thomas Parcher and Katelyn Winkler, by his step grandchildren, Danielle and David Risner, and by his nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his brother, John Lipp, Jr., by his sister and brother in law, Mary and John Parker, and by his son in law, William Winkler.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St. Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave., Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
