Dr. Nino M. Camardese

Dr. Nino M. Camardese, 86, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Friday, March 22, 2013 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born April 10, 1926 in Picenze, Italy, to the late Herman and Nicole (Evangelista) Camardese. Dr. Camardese emigrated to the United States when he was 13 years old and came to Norwalk in 1954 from Akron, Ohio. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in W.W. II, and was a graduate of Ohio State University. Dr. Camardese was a practicing Physician for more than 48 years and retired from private practice in 2002. In 1991, he was honored as Ohio Physician of the year by the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Camardese was a member of more than 40 medical, civic, and religious organizations.

He was an advocate of individual rights and responsibilities as they related to maintaining freedom. Dr. Camardese dedicated a great portion of his life to the Americanism Foundation which he founded. He lectured and wrote numerous books about parenting and citizenship.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eda E. (Varrasso) Camardese of Norwalk, Ohio, by his children, Thomas Camardese of Ozone, Arkansas, Mary Elizabeth Camardese of Morris Plains, New Jersey, and Mary Margaret and Gerald Volcheck of Rochester, Minnesota, and by his grandchildren, Joseph and Allison Volcheck, Shelley Camardese and Junella Metz.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
