September 5, 1918 - April 10, 2013

Louis A. Boni, 94, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Providence Care Centers after a lengthy illness.

Louis was born on September 5, 1918 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Giuseppe and Ottavia (Franketti) Boni.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army who proudly served his country during WWII. He was employed at Riccelli Grocery Store, Adams St. Market, and retired in 1983 as a Supervisor at Morgan Linen. He was a member American Legion, and the I.A.B. Club in Sandusky. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, gardening, bocci, and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Louis is survived by his wife, Thelma (Taylor), whom he married in June of 1943. He is also survived by his son, Gene Boni of Sandusky; daughter, Jackie Boni Wimer of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Marla (Tom) Ferguson of New Market, MD, Corey (Nick) Haas of Bellingham, WA, Marcus (Tony Truscello) Boni of St. Louis, MO, and Christopher Wimer of Sandusky; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kyle; special nephew and niece, David and Jean Samartoni; and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Louis is preceded in death by sister, Josephine Samartoni.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory with Rev. Edgar Shelly presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
