Frank R. VanCauwenbergh, age 76, of Castalia, died Monday morning, Dec. 6, 2010, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, following a brief illness.

He was born March 17, 1934, in Castalia, and was a 1953 graduate of Margaretta High School. He worked for 22 years at Sandusky Folding Box Co., as a shipping and receiving clerk, and prior to this had worked at Vulcan Materials, New Departure Hyatt, and Chrysler Plastics. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Castalia; Eagles; Amvets; American Legion Post 83; and the VFW Post 2529.

Frank is survived by his wife, the former Sandra Brunow, to whom he was married 50 years; 2 sons Scott "Krystal" VanCauwenbergh of Milford, OH, and Ray "Heather" VanCauwenbergh of Sandusky; 3 grandchildren Erin, Brett, and Teresa VanCauwenbergh; one brother Joseph VanCauwenbergh of Castalia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Delphine VanCauwenbergh; son Mark VanCauwenbergh in 2005; and two brothers Gaston and Louis VanCauwenbergh.

Friends may call from 4-8 pm Wednesday in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday. Pastor Billy Hatfield will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
