Robert L. Strayer, age 77, residing in Sandusky passed away early Sunday morning at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born on March 2, 1936 to the late Joseph and Martha (Miller) Strayer. Bob graduated from Bellevue High School in 1954 and received his Associates Degree from the Park Aeronautical College in St. Louis and was an Air National Guard veteran serving in Mansfield, Ohio.
He owned and operated Robert L. Strayer and Associates Insurance and Real Estate for over 50 years.
Bob was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, member and past President of the Firelands Board of Realtors, and a member of the Firelands Realtors Hall of Fame, the Sandusky Rotary, Sandusky J C's, member and past Commodore of the Sandusky Yacht Club, member and long time board member of the Plum Brook Country Club, the Sandusky Elks and the Round table group at Griffing Airport. Bob enjoyed flying, boating, fishing, golfing, travelling, spending winters in Florida and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Katherine (Foutty) Strayer of Sandusky, his brother and sister in law Gary and Barb Strayer of Norwalk, Ohio, two nephews Shane (Danielle) Strayer and Seth (Sandy) Strayer both of North Carolina, one great nephew Alexander Strayer and one great niece Paige Strayer.
Friends may call on Wednesday May 22, 2013 from 9:30AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM in St. John Lutheran Church 106 Schied Rd. Perkins Township, Ohio. The Pastor Bill Hlavin will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
