Thomas R. Fletcher, 65, of Strongsville and formerly of Sandusky, died Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2013 at his residence following a one year illness.

He was born May 1, 1948 in Sandusky. Tom was a 1966 graduate of Sandusky High School and a 1970 graduate of Ohio University. After college, Tom returned to Sandusky and had worked at Sandusky International until 1988. From 1988 to 1993 he had lived in Florida. He then came back to Sandusky and worked as a ferry boat captain for Rescue Marine until the Cedar Line ferry line closed. Tom has since resided in Strongsville. He was a member of Sandusky Power Squadron.

He is survived by his best friend of more than 36 years, his wife: Gayle J. Lamb-Fletcher, two brothers: James L. (Amy) Fletcher of Rittman and Dennis C. (Janet) Fletcher of Sandusky, niece: Hannah C. Fletcher and nephew: Isaac T. Fletcher.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James R. & Dolores (Osgood) Fletcher and a close family friend: George ‘Jim" Hehl.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 10:00 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 AM in the Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne Street, Sandusky. The Rev. Jan Smith Wood will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Grace Episcopal Columbarium.
