Eunice Goostree, 87, of Norwalk, Ohio died Saturday, June 29, 2013 in Gaymont Nursing Center.
Eunice was born July 16, 1925 in West Huron, Ohio, now Sandusky, Ohio, to the late John and Olivia (Reidy) Scheid. She lived the majority of her life in Norwalk, Ohio with her husband, John (Doug) Goostree, and nine children who went to St. Paul's school. Eunice was a happy housewife and mother, teaching her family many of the songs she loved. She was involved with Girl Scouts and camping, guitar, piano, any kind of card games, and puzzles. She enjoyed her visits with family and grandchildren. Eunice also enjoyed the Norwalk Memorial Home and Gaymont Nursing Center patients, nurses, and aides sharing and passing on her many stories and memories. She enjoyed working on family genealogy. While living in Florida, they were active in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Our Lady of Grace Food Pantry, share groups, bible study, and the Christian Kitchen.
Eunice is survived by her sons and daughters and sons and daughters in love, Gwendoline (Willard) Bores, James (Katherine) Goostree, Patricia (Thomas) Sprowl, Sheryl Laing, all of Norwalk, Ohio, Michael (Linda) Goostree of Cutler Ridge, Florida, Constance (Keith) Brunn of Norwalk, Ohio, Deborah (David) White of Wakeman, Ohio, Teresa (Kenneth) Sauvey of Lorain, Ohio, and Pamela (Gary) Mason of Tiffin, Ohio, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Clifford Scheid of Milan, Ohio.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, John Douglas "Doug" Goostree on May 12, 2013 after 70 years of marriage, by her grandchildren, Marvin and Marie Bores, by her brothers and sisters, Helen Yeager, Clarence Scheid, Adelaide Walker, Martha Sand, Mary Starr, and Arthur Scheid. The Goostree family would like to thank the staff of Norwalk Memorial Home, Gaymont Nursing Center and Stein Hospice Service for the excellent and compassionate service to their mother. Eunice thought of them as her extended family.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Kenneth Morman will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
