Claude C. Lewis, 71, of New London, died Sunday night in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.

He was born May 6, 1939 in Manchester, KY, and was a 1957 graduate of Clay Co. High School. He was a 34 year employee of the Lorain Ford Plant, retiring in 2002. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during Viet Nam. He was a member of Horse Creek Baptist Church in Manchester, KY, and the Huron Eagles.

Claude is survived by his wife, the former Kathe Brunner, to whom he was married for 50 years; one daughter Cheryl Lewis of Denver, CO; 2 sons James (Faith) Lewis of Sandusky, and Mike (Sue) Lewis of Harrodsburg, KY; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one brother Terry (Sandy) Lewis of Castalia; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Levi and Lula Lewis; and one brother Philip Lewis.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Doug Lang will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery, where American Legion Post 83 will conduct military graveside services.
