Edna Mae Schoewe

Edna Mae Schoewe, 88, Sandusky, passed away Sunday evening, August 25, 2013 in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brave fight against cancer.

She was born on February 21, 1925 on North Bass Island to Anne (Schmidt) and William Spencer.

Edna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and later Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She was retired from the former Pick-N-Pay grocery store. She was active with Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls, and was an avid bowler. She belonged to the graduating class of 1944 "Lunch Bunch" & canasta card club for 50 years.

Edna is survived by her children, Dave (Jenny Wilkens) Schoewe, of Tampa, Florida, Sharon (Bruce) Croteau, Jeff (Geri Daniels) Schoewe, and Jane (Bert) Dwelle, all of Sandusky; grandchildren, Brian (Crystal) Lewis, Beth (Martin) Oldaker, Andrew Schoewe, Abby (Doug) Haryu, Becky Schoewe, and Logan and Lucas Dwelle; and seven great-grandchildren, Brianna, Kathy, Gabe, Emile, Xander, Alyssa, Calvin, and "Babies A & B", due August 30.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and "Darling Boy", Glenn V. Schoewe, after 63 years together; daughter-in-law, Suzanne (Herman) Schoewe; sisters, Lillian Broderson, Ede Tight, Toot Waterfield, Dorothy Seely, and Fran Michel; and brothers, Bill Spencer, Walt Spencer, and Ed Spencer.

Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Father Eric Mueller will officiate, and burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. A luncheon at the church will follow the committal services.

Memorial contributions may be made in Edna's name to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. The family would like to thank Stein Hospice, because they could not have managed without their help.
