Richard D. (Dick) Wahl, 81, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday morning, September 15, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Richard was born on October 18, 1931 in Sandusky, OH to the late Earnest and Gladys (Smith) Wahl.
Richard retired from Esdmond Diary after 33 years of service and continued to work at Famous Supply and St. Mary's Elementary School. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting, caring for his dogs, working on cars, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Richard is survived by his two sons, Rick (Arlene) of Sandusky and Doug Wahl of Marblehead; six grandchildren, Chad, Josh, Jacob, Kari, Ashley, and Anthony; eight great-grandchildren, Wednesday, Amanda, Alex, Curtis, Megan, Owen, Collin, and Madyson; one brother, Robert (Christine) Wahl of Sandusky; daughter-in-law, Sue Wahl of Lorain; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy J. (Uhl) Wahl who passed away earlier this year; son, James Wahl; and three sisters, Thelma Slocum, Rita Wahl and Inze Andrews.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 4-7 PM at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky with Fr .Joe Steinbauer presiding. Private family burial will take place at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
