James C. Pierce, 48, of Monroeville died Saturday evening, September 21, 2013 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a three year battle with brain cancer.

He was born March 5, 1965 in Norwalk and was a 1983 graduate of Monroeville High School.

Jim was employed by Mark Schaffer Excavating & Trucking. Prior to this, he owned and operated Made to Grade Excavating and had worked for 20 years for the Huron County Highway Department. He was also a former Ridgefield Township Trustee. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville and the Knights of Columbus, St. John Newman Chapter No. 1117.

He is survived by two sons: Hayden Pierce and Brady Pierce, two sisters: Linda Ryan and Sue (Kevin) Ryan, nephews: Jake and Christopher Ryan, niece: Nicole (Cody) Tolle, great nephew: Ryan Tolle, all of Monroeville, aunts, uncle, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father: Ralph Pierce in 2009, mother: Marilyn (Fritz) Pierce in August of this year, brother-in-law: Michael Ryan, and twin nieces: Ashley & Stephanie Ryan.

Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2013 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. The Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
