Robert Hippler

Robert Hippler, 74, of Castalia, Ohio was delivered to his heavenly father early Wednesday morning, September 25, 2013 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio.

He was born April 25, 1939 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Martin and Anna (Wechter) Hippler.
Robert was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Robert was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary's High School and continued attending his class luncheons every month. He retired from the former Pick-N-Pay/Finast and Tops stores in Sandusky in 2001, after 41 years of service as the meat manager, where he was known for his friendly service and award winning meat department.

He enthusiastically coached little league for his kids in Castalia, and was a member of Habitat for Humanity. He joined the Habitat RV Care-A-Vanners after hurricane Katrina and has been volunteering for the past eight years with this group during the winter months. In his spare time he enjoyed working in the yard, mowing lawns, and just being outside in general. He loved listening to music, vacations, relaxing on his patio, preparing for the holidays, laughing with his family, playing cards and entertaining guests. He was a true Indians, Browns, and Buckeyes fan. Robert was known as a joyful, loving, and caring husband and father.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy (Weyer); three children, Lisa Hippler, Rob Jr., and Marty (Rachelle) Hippler, all of Castalia; four siblings, Mary Ann Hippler of Castalia, Donald (Marsha) Hippler of Grove City, James (Anita) Hippler of Canal Winchester, and Eugene (Ann) Hippler of Sandusky, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Friends may call Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 9:30 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. The Reverend Eric Mueller will be presiding. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory will be assisting the family with arrangements.
