Joyce Ann Mayse

Joyce Ann Mayse, 74, of Castalia, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by the love of her life, her husband; her children; and her grandchildren.

She was born Oct. 9, 1938, in Seneca County, and graduated from Arcadia High School. She retired from Castalia Bank in 1995. Joyce was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Castalia; the Castalia Lions Auxiliary; and the Margaretta Booster Club.

She enjoyed the simple things in life: the changing leaves in the fall; hummingbirds; boating, fishing, shelling, and swimming during her winter stays in Florida; cooking; spending time with her children and grandchildren; and Toft's ice cream.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 33 years, Junior Mayse; her mother Nano Walsh; her sister Marilyn ( Russ) King; her grateful children Tracy and Tina, Beth, Marc, Steve and Kimmie, Dan and Dawn, and Todd; her adoring grandchildren Stacy and Derek, Josh and Bri, Megan and Mike, Amy, Ben and Stephanie, Peyton, Drake, Hannah, Keriellen, Jacob, Emily, Cameron, Kyle, Nathan, and Jackson; and 6 cherished great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Pampa Walsh, and her brother Jim Walsh.

Friends may call from 5-8 pm Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Graveside services for the family will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in Meadow Green Memorial Park. Pastor John Paputza will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.ransomfuneralhome.com
