James A. Crum

James A. Crum, 68, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, October 10, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.

James was born on October 31, 1944 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Arthur A. and Clairsie V. (Campbell) Crum.

James retired in 2001 from New Departure after 33 1/2 years of service. He was a Past Master of Perseverance Lodge #329 and Past Monarch of the Singara Grotto. In his spare time he enjoyed taking road trips, gardening and eating hot peppers, listening to old country music, watching John Wayne movies, and collecting Native American Indian artifacts. He enjoyed spending time with his cat, Whiskers, and his loving family.

James is survived by his wife, Susan (Olin) Crum; daughter, Tracy Thompson; grandchildren, Josh Thompson and Holly Thompson; siblings, Jerald (Debbie) Crum, Marylin Gildenmeister, Jack Crum, Jeff Crum, Rick Crum, Delinda (Randy) Durst and Art Crum; brother-in-law, Bob Gildenmeister; special cousins, Donnie and Shannon Campbell of Rose Hill, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Ethel Crum, Mae Pillion Northcutt and Elijah Campbell.

Friends may call on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 2:00 pm until the time of Masonic Services at 6:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky.
