Macy L. Heiberger

Macy L. Heiberger, 87, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday evening, October 17, 2013 at Stein Hospice Care Center, following a brief illness.

She was born December 11, 1925, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Winifred M. (Longmire) Ewers.

Macy was a pioneer of woman and had strong work ethic. She was a member of the former Calvary Episcopal Church, and the Sandusky Y.M.C.A. Macy was a loving person whom served as a foster parent for four different children. She had a deep passion for all animals, especially dogs. Macy was an active donor to the Erie County Humane Society and the ASPCA. In her spare time she enjoyed drinking coffee with friends, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Roeder; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilson F. Heiberger, in 1981; her son, David W. Heiberger, in 2011; her sisters, Maxine L. Kaiser, and Violet M. Ward; two brothers, Archie K., and Virgil M. Ewers.

Friends may call Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 12 P.M. in the funeral home. Pastor Tim Nilsen will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
