Gladys E. Stierhoff

Gladys E. Stierhoff, 81, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Saturday evening, October 19, 2013 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

She was born September 2, 1932 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Albert P. and Mabel (Myers) Nickoli and was a lifelong area resident.

Gladys retired from the cafeteria of the Norwalk Public Schools in 1997. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and was a member, and former officer, of the Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Gladys and her husband, Harvey, were active volunteers for the Norwalk Senior Center where they were Outstanding Senior Citizens in 2006. Affectionately known as "H. B.", she helped her husband with his business, Harvey's Appliance Service, and was also a stay at home mom. Gladys was a former Volunteer for the American Red Cross, was a former Girl Scout Leader, enjoyed playing Euchre and Bunco, camping, gambling, and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events and traveling.

Gladys is survived by her husband of 63 years. Harvey L. Stierhoff, of Norwalk, Ohio. They were married April 21, 1950. She is also survived by her children, Judy Gerber and the late David Gerber (2013), of Monroeville, Ohio, Margie and Howard Simon of Norwalk, Ohio, and Ronald and April Stierhoff of The Colony, Texas. Gladys is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian (Melissa) Gerber of Ada, Ohio, Angela (Brett) Gies, of Findlay, Ohio, Trenton Gerber of Marion, Ohio, Shondra Moralas of The Colony, Texas, Sabine Stierhoff of The Colony, Texas, and Monique and Paul Dawadu, of Houston, Texas, and by her sisters, Ruth Perkins of Norwalk, Ohio and Mary (Harold) Fries of Willard, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Nickoli, by her sister, Evelyn Nickoli, and by her grandson, Steven Gerber in 2004.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Union Corners Cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio.
