James L. Murphy

James L Murphy, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning October 30, 2013 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness.

He was born March 7, 1928 in Marion, Ohio to the late Emery and Dora (Carpenter) Murphy.

James was employed by the Ford Motor Company for 30 years, and the State Liquor Store for 25 years, retiring from both places in 1995. He was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS, American Legion, Eagles, and VFW. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool and golf. Most of all James loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra A. Geiger of Norwalk; two sons, James E. (Ann S.) and David E. (Linda S.) Murphy of Sandusky; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Including his parents, James is preceded in death in 2007 by his loving wife, Barbara A. (Rotsinger) Murphy, whom he married December 24, 1950; and one great-grandchild, Te-Aijah Murphy.

Friends may call on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky, Ohio from 4 to 7 PM. Friends may also call Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Pastor B.R. Hatfield of Venice Road Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
