Anthony Quinn McKenzie

Anthony Quinn McKenzie, 55, of Sandusky, passed away on Thursday morning, December 19, 2013 in the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland.

He was born on March 9, 1958 in Talladega, Alabama to Clarence McKenzie and Mearian Louise (Fuller) McKenzie Swain.

When Anthony was a child his parents moved to Sandusky, where he received his religious teaching and became a young member at Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a 1977 graduate of Sandusky High School. While at Sandusky High, he excelled in many sports, with a special love for basketball. After high school, Anthony joined the U.S. Marine Corps. After an honorable discharge in 1991, he married Joyce Wheeler. For the past 10 years, he worked at New Sandusky Fish House.

Anthony leaves to cherish his memory his son, Anthony (Brittany) Quinn Redding, of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, TaJah McKenzie, of Sandusky; two grandsons, Anthony, Jr. and A'zavier; sister, Wendy Swain, of Sandusky; two brothers, Darrell (Jacqueline Amison) McKenzie and Dean Swain, both of Sandusky; two step-sisters, Jackie (Emmett) Phillips, of New Jersey and Gwendolyn (Edward) Shy, of Toledo, Ohio; two uncles, Eddie Frank Fuller and Ernie Perkins, both of Rochester, New York; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mearian, in 1993 and step-father, Dwight Swain, in 1998; sister, Deborah J. Andrews, in 2005; brother, Roger McKenzie, in 2005; niece, Solesta Marsha Van Nostrand, in 2004; and grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Funeral services will begin at Noon. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, where the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide military honors.
