Arcola (Keys) Graves

Arcola (Keys) Graves, 96, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, December 20, 2013 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Arcola was born on May 11, 1917 in Collins, MS to the late Arthur and Polly Ann (Mayfield) Keys.

She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in the Women's Mission, Women's Choir, the Busy Bee's, and helped with the cooking for the church. She owned and operated Arcola's Beauty Salon for over 40 years, and was a member of the Ohio Beauticians Association, APHA KAPHA Sorority, NAACP, and a past president of the local beauticians club.

Arcola is survived by two daughters, Patricia (David) Rich and Hannah (Gardner, Jr.) Jordan; one son, Douglas (Mary) Graves; beloved nephew, Daniel Graves; beloved cousin, TJ Payton; two sisters-in-law, Ethelene Keys and Fannie Keys; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four generations of relatives.

In addition to her parents, Arcola was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Graves in 1971, seven siblings, and a host of relatives.

Friends may call Monday, December 30, 2013 from 12:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 1:00 pm at Meadow Green Memorial Park Mausoleum, 2602 Bogart Road Huron, OH with Pastor Zachary Brown presiding. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, Sandusky is handling arrangements. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
