Denzel G. Haynes

Denzel G. Haynes, 77, of Norwalk, Ohio, died Sunday, January 5, 2014 in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born September 25, 1936 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Jennings R. and Opal V. (Newbrough) Haynes and lived in this area most of his life.

Denzel was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was a member of Operators Local #18, was a life member of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion, and the National Rifle Association. Denzel was a former employee of Johns Manvill Paper Mill in Avery, Ohio, and retired from Lake Erie Construction Company. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, four wheeling, and spending time with his family.

Denzel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Colleen T. (Huber) Haynes of Norwalk, Ohio, by his children, Dennis J. and Donna (Kurtz) Haynes of Norwalk, Ohio, Jennings Rex Haynes of Norwalk, Ohio, Randy B. Haynes of Norwalk, Ohio, Deneen R. Bottomlee of Elyria, Ohio and Steven J. Haynes of Norwalk, Ohio, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Villivan of Las Vegas, Nevada and Evelyn Sholes of Norwalk, Ohio.

Denzel was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Allen Haynes, by his daughter, Terri Myers, and by his brothers, Joseph, James, and Louis Haynes.

Friends may call on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Dan Johnson, Pastor of Victory Baptist Church will officiate.
