Egon F. Weller

Egon F. Weller, 87, residing in Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Egon was born on July 6, 1926 in Braunsbach, Germany to the late Frederick "Fritz" and Anna (Rohrle) Weller.

He came to America at the age of 3, in 1929, on the S.S. Bremen through Ellis Island, New York. He was a Veteran of the Army who proudly served his country from 1944 to 1946. He was employed thirteen years at Union Chain, ten years at Lower Lake Docks, and retired from Tenneco Industries in 1992 after 33 years of service as a stationary engineer, boiler technician and certified welder. Egon was a member of American Legion Post 83 and AMVETS Post 17. His passion was restoring old cars and coin collecting. He was an avid football fan. He loved spending time with his friends and family.

Egon is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann "Peggy" (Kline) Sanders-Weller, whom he married on January 7, 2000. He is also survived by daughter, Ruth Ann (Jim) Markowitz of Huntington, NY; sons, Gordon (Anne) Weller of Evansville, IN and Jeffrey (Sue) Weller of Tulsa, OK; his blended family, Karyn (Ken) Wilhelm of Monroeville and Joyce (Steve) Hovatter of Norwalk; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Egon is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy (Pfleiderer) Weller in 1980 and a brother, Alfred "Whitey" Weller in 1998.

Friends may call on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.
