Gary L. Dickman

Gary L. Dickman, 77, of Norwalk, passed away at his residence, and went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, January 15, 2014, following a lengthy illness.

Gary was born on June 22, 1936 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Oscar and Eulalia (Buddenhagen) Dickman.

Gary graduated from Sandusky High School in 1954 and attended the Oberlin School of Commerce. He was a supervisor and process engineer for Clevite in Milan, Ohio. He retired in 1996 after 32 years of service. Gary was a longtime member of the Sandusky Church of the Nazarene, where he was a church board member, Sunday school teacher and new believers counselor. He enjoyed playing on the church softball league for many years. He also enjoyed reading the Bible, traveling when he was able and spending time with his family, friends, and pet bird, Bella.

Gary is survived by his wife, of 57 years Judy (Zura) Dickman; his daughter, Judy L. Dickman of Norwalk; three sons, Gary J. Dickman of Norwalk, Mark (Stacey) Dickman of Louisville, Kentucky, and David (Theresa) Dickman of Sandusky; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Ron) Brownell and Janet Authos, both of Sandusky; brothers, Gordon Dickman of Fremont, and Ronald and Richard Dickman both of Sandusky; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Including his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and William Dickman; four half brothers; and one half sister.

Friends may call on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Church of the Nazarene 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky, Ohio. Friends may also call on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 9:00 am up until the time of funeral services at 10:00 am at Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. David P. Flack presiding. Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan, Ohio.
