Annette "Nettie" LaPlante, 80, of Put-In-Bay, passed away peacefully Monday, January 27, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center surrounded by her family, after a lengthy illness.
Nettie was born on April 6, 1933 in Rossford, Ohio to the late George and Ollie (Beach) Frick.
She and her husband owned and operated Nettie's Bed and Breakfast on Put-In-Bay for ten years, and Nettie was a wonderful homemaker for her family. She was an active member of Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church on Put-In-Bay, where she participated in the choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, traveling with her husband and spending time with her family.
Nettie is survived by her daughters, Debora (Scotty) Ferrell, Kathleen (Todd) Paridon, Shelly (David) Mettler; sons, Thomas (Leigh) and Robert (Michelle) LaPlante; grandchildren, Andrea Alcon, Nathan and Kurt Ferrell, Andrew LaPlante, Tesse Ruhlman, Emily, Daniel and Shane LaPlante, Robin and Corri LaPlante, Maegan Mertes, Melissa, Tom and Josh Muenzer and Nicholas Mettler; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Nettie is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas "Harvey" LaPlante; sisters, Virginia Kleeberger and Helen Hurrell; and brothers, Lawrence and Georgie Frick.
Friends may call on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, Ohio. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in the spring, with burial following in Mapleleaf Cemetery on Put-In-Bay, Ohio.
