Dorothy Mae Flounders

Dorothy Mae Flounders, 78, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Saturday morning, February 1, 2014 at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Dorothy was born on January 4, 1936 in Marion, NC to the late William P. and Grace M. (Kraft) Fisher.

Dorothy graduated from Hanover-Horton High School in Hanover, MI in 1953. She attended Jackson Junior College in Jackson, MI and graduated from Michigan State University in 1958 with a bachelors degree in business and personnel administration. Throughout her life, Dorothy worked at Aeroquip Corp, Michigan Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Vulcan Materials Corp in Sandusky. She retired from Delphi and New Departure Hyatt in Sandusky, OH. Dorothy was a member Trinity United Methodist Church, and was active with Junior Achievement, Back to the Wild and Girl Scouts of America. She served on the Board of Directors for Vacationland Federal Credit Union for 26 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and designing flower arrangements.

Dorothy is survived by son, Stephen E. (Jennifer) Flounders of Sandusky, OH; her daughter, Diana G. (Don) Fahle of Westerville, OH; two granddaughters, Alexys and Kaitlynn; sister, Vera S. Tuttle of Jackson, MI; two brothers, Robert Fisher of Laguna Niguel, CA and Edward W. Fisher of Shelby Twp, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives; her beloved dog, Hayley; cat, Midnight; and several grandpups.

Including her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie P. Flounders Jr. in 2011, and sister, Gloria A. Bacon.

Friends may call on Friday, February 7, 2014, from 2:00 PM until the time of funeral services at 4:00 PM at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
