Dick attended Sandusky High School and completed his high school education through alternative education and was awarded a General Education Diploma. He was a member of Bellevue Assembly of God Church, where his brother, John P. Ginty is Pastor. He was active in the Bible Study Group and other church activities. Dick had many passions including sports (Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians), Rock and Roll Music (he knew all the songs and artists, which he used to win many prizes on radio and internet game shows), and a voracious user of the internet (movies, contests, coupons, etc.). He was known for his generous nature often treating fellow nursing home patients to pizza and Pepsi, sandwiches from McDonald's, coupons he felt they could use. He confirmed his generous nature at the end of his life by being an Organ Donor.
Dick had a great love for his family who he kept in touch on a regular basis via Google Voice, Skype, emails and his famous letters.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters; Mary Jo (Costello) of Long Beach, CA, John (Jodi), Bellevue, OH; Carol (Dan) Geist, Boxborough, MA; Patti (Mike) Bunt of Louisville, KY; Bill, Farum, Denmark, Joe (Norah), Lancaster, OH and Mark (Bronwyn), Gahanna, OH and special nephew, Tony (Scotia) Delpercio of Vickery. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Don in June 2013.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to Mark Zidion and the staff of the Windhaven Homes in Youngstown, Ohio and the staff of The Arbors in Clyde, Ohio for the care they provided to Dick over these past years.
