Arvilla M. Pletcher

Arvilla M. Pletcher, 82, of Sandusky, died Sunday evening, February 9, 2014 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.

She was born March 6, 1931 in Willard, Ohio and was a 1950 graduate of Sandusky High School.

Arvilla was a member of the St. Stephen United Church of Christ, Sandusky and was a member of the SHS alumni class of 1950. She and her husband, David, were members of the original Dock Gang, later known as the Dock Friends. She is known by many as an extremely caring and kind-hearted person. Arvilla was a gifted crafter who created works of art from plastic canvas for friends and family.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, David F. Pletcher, Sr. whom she married on February 24, 1951, three sons; David (Victoria) Pletcher, Jr., Carl (Rose) Pletcher and Michael Pletcher all of Sandusky, eight grandchildren, Benjamin (Kara) Pletcher, Kari (Doug) Vance, Nicholas (Heather) Pletcher, Jennifer (Robert) Greene, Michael Pletcher, Jr., Stephanie Michelle Pletcher, Hillary Pletcher-Turner and Krystle Pletcher-Goosetree, 14 great grandchildren; Kailee, Emily, Alison, Ronin, Cameron, Taylor, Jesse, Autumn, Annis, Dylan, Zachary, Trenton, Scarlet and Dawson, and six other very special self adopted grandchildren (the Bevington family), one brother; Eugene Ulmer of Virginia Beach, VA, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Albert R. & Captola F. (Schwab) Ulmer.

Friends may call Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The Rev. Jerald A. Fenske will officiate. Burial will be in the Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
