Lloyd D. Bodi

Lloyd D. Bodi, 79, residing in Sandusky passed away early Saturday morning at home following a lengthy illness.

He was born on November 30, 1934 in Sandusky to the late Lloyd A. and Nona G. ( Wightman) Bodi.

He was a 1953 graduate of Sandusky High, attended the Traffic Institute of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and also graduated from the Sandusky Police Academy. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Lloyd was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #83, and the Sandusky Fraternal Order of Police Lake Erie Lodge #17. Lloyd served on the Sandusky Police Department from 1964 until his retirement in 1989. While serving with the Department he was instrumental in conducting a series of safety programs for the Sandusky City Schools. He was also owner and operator of the Bodi Body Shop which was established in 1960.

He is survived by his wife Virginia (Eberly) whom he married on January 19, 1957, two daughters Diane (Brett) Scharringhausen of Tampa, Fla., and Debra (Ronald) Haer of Sandusky, one son Dr. David (Apple) Bodi of Sandusky, three grandchildren Brooke Bodi, Amanda Haer and Jay Jay Bodi, one great grandson Weston Foos, one brother Gerald (Phyllis) Bodi of Bayview, Oh, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a nephew Randy Bodi.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 PM in the Groff Funeral Home and Crematory 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky. Friends may also call on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM the Fraternal Order of Police will conduct a memorial service shortly before serices in Trinity United Methodist Church 214 E. Jefferson St Sandusky, Ohio. The Pastor Doug Winner will officiate. Entombment will follow services.
