John Willinger

John Willinger, 57, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Cleveland Clinic Foundation after a brief illness.

John was born on July 22, 1956 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Albert J. and Peggy (Rogers) Willinger.

John received his HVAC degree from Terra Tech. John was previously employed by Sorgen Refrigeration in Port Clinton, Ohio for 15 years and has been working at Cedar Point in the HVAC refrigeration maintenance department as foreman for the last 18 years. John was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Local #42 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and the Harley Owners Group. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing at Resthaven, riding his motorcycle, barbecuing, and spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Donna (Nolan) Willinger, whom he married on November 21, 1980. He is also survived by his son, Joseph Willinger of Kent; brother, Michael (Kathy) Willinger of Sandusky; nephews, A.J. Willinger of Rocky River and Chuck (Falon) Willinger of Sandusky; two great nieces; one great nephew; several other relatives in Canada and England.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his in-laws Lester Nolan in 1979; Sylvia Nolan in 1999 and a brother-in-law, Dannie Nolan in 1983.

At John's request cremation has taken place and private services for the family will take place at later date. John was able to give the gift of sight by donation through Life Bank in Cleveland. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory are assisting the family with arrangements.
