William P. Scheid

William P. Scheid, 86, of Sandusky passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 6, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

Bill was born in Sandusky, Ohio on March 25, 1928.

He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1946. He was a life time farmer and life member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was an organist for over 67 years. He was a Huron Township Trustee for 7 years, Erie County Commissioner for 12 years, serving as President of CCAO in 1993. He was a life member of the Elks Club, serving as their organist for over 25 years, member of Sandusky Yacht Club, serving as trustee for 6 years, member of Plum Brook Country Club, a 60 year member of Erie Lodge No. 239, F.&A.M., Singara Grotto, Firelands Shrine Club and a member of the Board Trustee for over 25 years at the Firelands Regional Medical Center. He delivered SOS Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. He loved his home, family and friends, boating and serving the community.

He is survived by his son William Peter of Sandusky, daughters Jacqueline (Jaan) Metsma of Savoy, MA, Katherine Scheid, (JoAnn Ventura), Catawba Island, Polly (Mario) DiCocco, Langhorne, PA, three grandsons, four granddaughters, seven great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Sue Scheid and loving companion Barbara Nielsen.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Phyllis (Ebert) Scheid, his parents Edward and Alice (Baumeister) Scheid, a brother David W. Scheid and his second wife Eleanor (Fowler) Scheid.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until time of memorial service at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church, corner of Rt. 250 and Scheid Road, Sandusky. Pastor Bill Hlavin will officiate. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the William P. Scheid, Sr. Music Fund, c/o St. John Lutheran Church or to your favorite charity.
