Jeffrey L. DuFore

Jeffrey L. DuFore, 64, of Norwalk, Ohio, earned his wings of April 8, 2014, at the Stein Hospice Care, Sandusky, Ohio, with his wife by his side.

He courageously dealt with the complications of diabetes with a smile on his face. Gone are the pills, the shots, and the wheelchair - he can fly!! He loved and looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and family, traveling when he could, bird watching, and watching his flowers grow.

Jeff graduated from Norton High School, Norton, Ohio, and attended Kent State University. He worked for Siberling, Firestone, and Goodyear, Arkon, Ohio, and then for Uniroyal in Mishawaka, and Warsaw, Indiana, and Port Clinton, Ohio, before retiring as Plant Superintendent from Textileather , Toledo, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, and best friend, Joan, whom he was married to for 8 years. Jeff is also survived by their children, Amanda DiMartio of Ravena, Ohio, Jeremy (Michelle) Brooks of Wadsworth, Ohio, Ryan (Kendra) Reed of Georgia, and Jeffrey (Sarah) Reed of Norwalk, Ohio. By his grandchildren, Hensley, Ryleigh, Reghan, and Liam Reed, and Olivia Brooks. He is also survived by his mother, Portia DuFore of Suffield, Ct., by his father and step mother, Richard and Karen DuFore of Barberton, Ohio, by his brothers, Tom (Marcia) DuFore of Suffield, Ct., Tim (Sondra) DuFore of Bath, Ohio, by his sister, Micki (Doug) Neel of Rising Sun, Indiana, by his half brothers, Scott (Michelle) DuFore of Barberton, Ohio, and Todd (Rowena) DuFore of Barberton, Ohio, by his niece, Rachel Neel of Rising Sun, Indiana, and by his nephew, Tim DuFore of Poughkeepsie, New York.

Jeff was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Thelma Baughman and Joe DuFore, by his Maternal Grandparents, Mahlon and Ruth Laubach, by his mother in law, Shirley (Baby) Hager, and by his step daughter, Stephanie Reed.

Friends may call on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Friends may also call on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Rev. Bruce Rzengota, Pastor of the Norwalk Alliance Church, will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870, or to a Scholarship fund, in Jeff's name, which is being established for High School Seniors with diabetes who are going to college.
