Mary Lee Aaron

Mary Lee Aaron, 89, Sandusky, died on February 11, 2011 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

She was born on May 7, 1921 in Waynesboro, Mississippi to the late Rufus and Polly (Robinson) Nicholson. She moved to Sandusky in 1955 with her husband, Deacon Dave Aaron, Sr., and eventually became a member of the Providence Baptist Church where she served on the Mothers' Board. Mary Lee spent the majority of her life working in nursing homes in the Sandusky area and ultimately retired from the Ohio Veterans Home in 1985 after 13 years of employment to take care of her ailing husband. Thereafter, she spent a majority of her time with her family and assisted with the upbringing of many of her grandchildren. She loved gardening, planting flowers, and especially enjoyed cooking meals for the family.

Mary Lee is survived by her daughter and caretaker, Alice R. Ashburn. She has an extended family from her union with Dave, Sr. and is survived by daughter and special friend, Susietta Williams; sons George Evans, Danny (Brunell) Aaron, Sr., Edward (Willie) Aaron, Levon Nicholson, Ronnie Aaron, and Claude Aaron, Sr., all of Sandusky; daughter-in-law, Lena Aaron, Dayton, OH., sister, Shirley Thomas, Waynesboro, MS; special friends, Maggie (Monegan) Haralson, Fremont, OH and Dorothy Hayes, Sandusky. God blessed her with many levels of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Left with fond memories are 47 grandchildren and almost 100 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Dave Aaron, Jr., C.B. Aaron, James Aaron, Sr., all of Sandusky, and Eulas Aaron, Dayton, OH; sisters, Annie Mae Nicholson, Waynesboro, MS, Ionia Everett Major, Mobile, AL, and Willie Mae West, Coden, AL; brothers, William Nicholson, Waynesboro, MS, Johnnie Nicholson, Coden, AL, Wesley Nicholson, Detroit, MI, and Preston Nicholson, Alliance, OH; sisters-in-law, Inez Nicholson, Ethel Nicholson, and Millie Nicholson; daughters-in-law, Bertha Aaron, Clara Aaron, and Mattie Aaron; and son-in-law, Eugene Williams; a special nephew, William Nicholson, Jr., Waynesboro, MS; and special grandson, Aaron Michel Richardson, Sandusky.

Friends and family may call from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. on Thursday, February 17, 2011, Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Avenue, Sandusky. Rev. Samuel Mickles will officiate. Burial will be at the Perkins Cemetery. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, is assisting the family with arrangements.
