Gilbert Brubaker, age 82, of Wakeman, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Twilight Gardens Home in Norwalk.
He was born December 23, 1931 in Toledo, son of the late Gilbert and Irma (Applegate) Brubaker.
He was a graduate of Michigan State University and received a Masters of Education from the University of Toledo. He taught Social Studies for 32 years to sixth, seventh and eighth graders at Berlin Milan School District. He was a Charter Member of the Wakeman Eagles Aerie 4354 and a 32nd Degree Mason with the Gibson Lodge, and active in other social clubs. He enjoyed reading books and newspapers daily, watched old movies and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Timothy Brubaker of Wakeman; grandsons, Jonathon (Heather) Brubaker of Amherst and Justin (Jennifer) Brubaker of Norwalk; mother of grandsons, Chris Yontz of Wakeman; great-grandchildren, Peyton, Callie and Andrew; sisters, Marilyn (Tom) Bensman of Toledo and Sandy (the late Dewy) Baker of Toledo; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Peters, to whom he married on July 29, 1961 in 1995.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday at 5:00 P.M. at the Wakeman Eagles Hall, corner of U.S. 20 and Ohio 60, where friends will be received one hour prior. Private interment will be held in Toledo at a later date.
