Ca'Leo Kaevon "Big Clete" Smith, of Sandusky, embraced his final rest surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, after a 3 year battle with Leukemia.
Ca'Leo was born September 27, 1999 in Sandusky, OH.
He was a sweet boy, who had a unique appreciation for the simple things in life. He found joy in playing video games, drawing, gardening, and cutting the grass at his church. His deep love for his family was reflected by the beautiful smile that radiated from his face when they spent time together.
Ca'Leo brought so much happiness to the lives of his family. He was always happy while spending time playing, laughing, or just hanging out with his siblings and cousins. He enjoyed practicing the drums with his father at church. He shared a special bond with his grandmother, often assisting her with cooking meals and was excited to plan and start their vegetable garden this spring.
During his courageous battle with Leukemia, Ca'Leo leaned closely on his mother and father, who provided him with unconditional love and support. His mother nurtured and cared for him, while his father taught him to find strength in Christ. Ca'Leo used art as therapy and many of his beautiful pieces can be found adorning the walls of Rainbow Babies Hospital in Cleveland.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Leo and Frances (Hamilton) Smith; siblings, Brendarius, Dameyion, and Shekina, all of Sandusky; grandparents, Helen "Ollie" Powell and Ramona (Henry) Hampton, both of Sandusky, Leroy (Evelyn) Smith of Toledo; several aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Eugene Glenn.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Assembly of Jesus Christ Church, 3510 Beatty Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870. Elder Johnny Cross will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made at Vacationland FCU in the name of Leo Smith, memo: "Big Clete."
