Jacob Keys

Jacob Keys, 69, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Thursday evening, September 11, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

Jacob was born on November 27, 1944 in Taylorsville, MS to the late Walter and Leola (Newell) Keys.

Jacob was a Veteran of the Army who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1974. He was employed at Ford Motor Company for 35 years before retiring in 2006. Jacob was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and the local UAW 826. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, amusement parks, riding his Harley, bowling, and watching the history channel. He was an avid basketball fan, especially of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Jacob had a special love for animals and loved spending time with his family, especially his wife.

Jacob is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Hollingshed) Keys, whom he married on July 24, 1971. He is also survived by his children, Sandtrese Keys of Cincinnati, Norma L. Hollingshed of Sandusky, William and Jonah (Charity) Hollingshed both of Kentucky, and Jerome Keys of Texas; grandchildren, Shanta, Jaciya, Chasity, Anthony, Erica, Shavonet, Lacretia, Jared, Jacob and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Shantaris, Jazarion, Daquaris, Santana, Camrion, Sebastian; sisters, Susie Lee Shelby and Irma Lee (L.C.) Thigpen both of Mississippi; brothers, Donnie (Christine) Keys of Sandusky, Jimmie (Mattie) Keys of Mississippi and Ronnie (Andrea) Keys of Nevada and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Jacob is preceded in death by sisters, Eartha Lee Keys-Posey, Gindal Keys and Dorothy Robinson, a sister in infancy and brother, Joseph Keys.

Friends may call on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at New Jerusalem Baptist Church 1920 Eddie Henry Way, Sandusky with the Rev. Curtis Johnson Jr. presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
