Robert S. Carleton

Robert S. Carleton, 72, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 16, 2014 in his home.

He was born September 19, 1942 in Magnetawan, Ontario, Canada to the late Vincent and Virginia (Schmeler) Carleton.

Bob moved to Norwalk when he was 12 years old and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1961. He earned his Electronic Technical Degree from DeVry Technical Institute. Bob was an accomplished guitarist, performing extensively in the Eastern USA with numerous rock band groups during the 60's and 70's. He played and toured with the popular area band of the 60's known as Robbie and the Ramblers. Bob was owner of Carleton's Television Sales and Service in Norwalk for 20 years. For the last 25 years he was involved in sales and marketing in the area. He was serving his 9th term on Norwalk City Council and had served on Council since the mid 1990's. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #711, a former member of the Norwalk J.C.'s and the Norwalk Elks Lodge.

Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife of 26 years, Kathleen F. (Beck) Carleton.

Bob is also survived by his children, Steven V. (Bev) Carleton of San Francisco, California, Hope C. (Richard) Luongo of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kelly C. (Sarah) Beck of Norwalk, Ohio, and Debi (Pete) Welch of Norwalk, Ohio, and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, William Carleton of Vermilion, Ohio, and Thomas (Barbara) Carleton of Norwalk, Ohio.

Bob was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Madeleine Ann Luongo (Carleton).

Friends may call on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 19,2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, 60 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Brian Oglesbee will officiate.
