Claudine E. (Yeager) Zimmerman

Claudine E. (Yeager) Zimmerman, 96, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day after a brief illness. Her family and Stein Hospice were by her side.

Claudine was born on May 19, 1918 in Sunbury, Pennsylvania to the late Charles Sr. and Clara (Drumn) Yeager who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Sunbury High School and came to Sandusky a short time later. She became a self-employed licensed cosmetologist opening up Zimmies Beauty Shop on West monroe Street. She operated the business in her home until she retired at age 82. Claudine was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and a past member of the Orioles Club. Her loves were her family, the Cleveland Indians, soap operas, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Steven Tyler. She also loved the American Indians and wolves. A 7 ounce glass bottle of Coca Cola was her favorite drink.

Claudine is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Tom) Lazzarra of Sandusky; three sons, Michael Zimmerman of Findlay, Ohio, Ralph (Linda) Zimmerman and William (Charlotte) Zimmerman, both of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Angela Zimmerman who she raised from the age of two, Kaija Alexander (Mikki Tallman), Michael (Tiffany Hixen) Alexander, Gabriel (Karla Zifkak) Alexander, all of Sandusky; nine great-grandchildren, Brandon and Gabriel Clark, Gabrion Alexander, Syanna Alexander, Callie Woodburn, Averee Alexander, and Preston, Arionna and Noel Alexander; three great-great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Sophia Van Zant and Catelaya Clark; one sister, Peggy (Yeager) Williams and two brothers, Stanley (Helen) Yeager and Charles Yeager, all of Baltimore, MD; two daughters-in-law, Dianne Alexander of Sandusky and Kim Parker of Tiffin, Ohio; two close friends, Ladonna Rengel and Alice Sprau of Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Claudine is preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. "Mike" Zimmerman in 1958; two brothers, James and Ralph Yeager; two special friends, Providence "Babe" Krueger and Marge Nims.

a private family visitation will take place Monday, December 1, 2014 from 9am - 11am in Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Fr. Matthew Frisbee presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio.
