E. Thomas "Tom" Alexander

E. Thomas "Tom" Alexander, 81, residing in Huron, went home to be with his Lord on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2014 from Firelands Regional Medical Center after a prolonged illness.

Tom was born on October 25, 1933 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Estel and Gertie (Wells) Alexander.

Tom graduated from Sandusky High School in 1951. In 1961 he built his home in Huron Township and has resided there since. Tom retired from Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio in 1995 after 38 years as a Millwright. He was a member of UAW Local 1216. Tom was raised in Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky where he served as a Deacon for many years, was a choir member, sang in duets and quartets, taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendent and Church Treasurer, drove the church bus for youth events, and chaired the building committee that constructed the current building on E. Perkins Ave. in 1970. In his spare time, he enjoyed perch and walleye fishing, boating, water skiing, gardening, photography, carpentry work, bowling, playing Rook and Uno, and forwarding emails.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mildred A. "Millie" (Holliday) Alexander, whom he married on June 5, 1954; two sons, Rev. Thomas D. (Rachael) Alexander of Wellington, OH and Rev. James L. (Pam) Alexander of Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter, Cheryl A. (Dr. Michael) Eiras of Cincinnati, OH; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by one infant son, Donald L. Alexander.

Friends may call on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also call Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky with Pastor David Hixson presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, OH.
