Esther "GiGi" F. (Lohbauer) Kettel

Esther "GiGi" F. (Lohbauer) Kettel, age 96, of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday, December 03, 2014 at Gaymont Nursing Center.

Esther "GiGi" was born March 12, 1918 in Toledo, OH to the late Louise (Erhardt) and Albert Lohbauer.

She was married to Leonard M. Kettel; together they ran a dry cleaning business in Ashland. She also worked at the former Norwalk Dry Cleaners, Comet Cleaners and Connie's Dry Cleaning and Laundry. She enjoyed bowling three times a week, boating, fishing, rides to the Lake, watching golf, Cleveland Indians and played the organ and accordion. She will always be remembered for her brownies, peanut butter cookies, and her secret recipe potato salad.

Survived by her sons, Leonard (Mary Sue) Kettel of Huron and Raymond Kettel of Norwalk; daughter, Betty L. (Charles) Christian of Norwalk with whom she made her home; sister-in-law, Ruth Lohbauer of Norwalk; grandchildren, Richard (Dianne) Kettel of Brighton, MI, Kimberly (George) Roback of Glouster, Kelly (Larry) Pompeo of Cleveland, Karyn Christian of North Royalton, Michael (Jessica) Kettel of Pittsburgh, Matthew Kettel of Pittsburgh, Patrick Kettel of Shreveport, LA, Patti (Dan) Coleman of Beaver Creek, , Sheri (Rob) Fisher of Sandusky and Steve (Kristi) Schlessman of Huron; 16 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard M. Kettel in 1954; granddaughter, Laurie Schlessman; daughters-in-law, Joyce (Meyer) Kettel and Linda (Ruffing) Kettel; sisters, Elinore Lohbauer, Louise (Joe) McConahy and Lucille (Norman) Benore; brothers, Robert (Thelma) Lohbauer, Albert (Kay) Lohbauer and Walter Lohbauer.

Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. Also, Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
