Bernard W. Dubbert, 97, residing in Marblehead , passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Bernard was born on September 14, 1917 in Elmore, OH to the late William Dubbert Sr. and Neva (Irving) Gerold.
Bernard was a Veteran of the US Army. He was employed at Russell Truck Line before retiring after 30 years of service. Bernard was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Lakeside Marblehead, the American Legion, the OSPA, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. of Marblehead. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, and other engines, camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
Bernard is survived by his daughters, Darlene Boggs, Kathryn House and Julie Hershiser; sons Dale (Bonnie) Dubbert and Bernard (JoAnn) Dubbert; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; sister, Judy (Frank) Trautman; brothers, Larry (Della) Dubbert, Fred (Diane) Dubbert, Roger (Jackie) Gerold and Dwayne (Elsie) Gerold and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Bernard is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Irene (Wobser) Dubbert in 2012; sisters, Ila Lanphere, Diane Olsen and Mildred Kline and brothers, Gaylord and William Dubbert Jr.
Friends may call on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:00 am with Pastor Chris Young of St. Paul Lutheran Church Lakside-Marblehead presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, OH.
