Lester A. Gildenmeister

Lester A. Gildenmeister, 91, of Sandusky died Monday afternoon, December 22, 2014 in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Sandusky on June 6, 1923 to Irvin and Edna (Schaefer) Gildenmeister. He attended Sandusky High School and had served in the United States Army during WWII from 1943-1945. He married Lena Mae Hale on November 27, 1948. He was employed at the former Esmond Dairy Company prior to his retirement. After retirement he had worked at Cedar Point for a few years and drove for Meals on Wheels. He was a true family man with a good sense of humor and enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Sandusky, Amvets Post 17, American Legion Post 83 and the VFW Post 2529.

He is survived by three children, Karen (Stan) Stewart; Richard (Gina) Gildenmeister both of Sandusky and Alice (Jim) Andrews of Bellevue; seven grandchildren, Pam, Sandi, Trisha, Zach, Tiffany, Dan and Amanda; eleven great grandchildren, Kelly, Ryan, Garrett, Jesse, Destiny, Brody, Talia, Jayla, Devon, Dorian and J'cyohn; one cousin, Robert Schaefer of Sandusky; good friends, Virginia Duff and Delbert Agsten, both of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Mae in 1996; his parents, one brother, Glenn D. Gildenmeister and one sister, Ileta Rosswurm.

Friends may call Friday, December 26, 2014 from 4-7:00 PM and from 9:00 AM Saturday, December 27, 2014 until time of service at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church, 3410 Hayes Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Pastor Don Spurlock will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
