Jack E. Skiver, age 84, of Bay View, died Thursday morning, January 15, 2015, at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.

He was born June 4, 1930, in Nelsonville, OH and served in the U.S. Army.

He worked for New Departure Hyatt, retiring after 37 1/2 years. Jack had a great sense of humor and would keep the family laughing for hours, he was a nature lover and a supporter of Back to the Wild, Castalia. He loved bird watching, fishing, his dogs, and carpentry; and could always be found in his shop building something.

He is survived by his sister Carol Skiver, Akron; brother Billy Skiver, Portland, IN; God sons Karson Slisher and Kip Slisher; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife Edith (Smith) Skiver; parents Lester and Louise (Mount) Skiver; two sisters Betty Slisher and Katherine Waugh; and two brothers Charles Skiver and Darl Skiver.

Friends may call from 2 PM until time of services at 3 PM, Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky. Pastor David Flack will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back to the Wild, PO Box 423, Castalia, OH 44824 and to the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky, OH 44870.
