Vonda J. (Knotts) Claycomb, 82, formerly of Sandusky, passed away Sunday morning, February 1, 2015 at Brookdale Joliet in Joliet, IL after a lengthy illness.
Vonda was born on November 3, 1932 in Horse Shoe Run, WV to the late Junior and Catherine (Root) Knotts.
Vonda was a member of Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene where she sang in the church choir. In her later years she enjoyed working at Kroger in Sandusky. She was an avid reader, an advocate of daily exercise, and loved spending time with her church and neighborhood family. Vonda also enjoyed gardening, baking, playing piano and guitar, and listening to country music. Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always brought a smile to her face.
Vonda is survived by her son, Ray Claycomb of Cleveland, OH; daughter, Lisa (Robert) Criss of Bolingbrook, IL; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Beverly) Knotts of FL; and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Vonda is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Claycomb in 2007.
Friends may call on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 12:30 pm until the time of funeral services at 1:00 pm at the Sandusky Community Nazarene Church, 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky, OH 44870 with Rev. David P. Flack presiding. Burial will take place in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
