Mark Zeiher, 63, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic after a lengthy illness.

Mark the "Z Man" as he was affectionately called, was born on October 25, 1951 in Sandusky, OH to the late Paul and Anna (Dienes) Zeiher.

Mark was employed at H.J. Heinz Company in Fremont and had worked at Cliff's Carry Out part-time for 31 years. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Mark was a loving and wonderful husband to his best friend of forty years. He was a family man, an avid fan of Ohio sports, and he especially loved wrestling and pulling pranks on his grandchildren. His sense of humor drew people to him like a magnet and he had a smile and laugh that filled the room. Although he had a silly side, Mark was always a hard working man. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing yard work, anything to be outside using his hands. More often than not, he would finish the yard work at his own home and take off to the homes of his children to work in their yards as well. Pulling pranks, doing chores for others, these were just a few ways Mark would show his love. Mark had always cherished family vacations. When his children were young, the family would pile into the station wagon and listen to the "oldies" the entire road trip as Mark sang and carried on. With grown children and grandchildren, the vacation of choice was Disney World. Mark adored his grandchildren and would spend hours with them in the pool and around the resort engaging in all sorts of tomfoolery. Mark was a real warrior and fought a courageous battle and will always be remembered as a hero to those who loved him.

Mark is survived by his wife, Barbara (Tovar) Zeiher, whom he married on November 16, 1974. He is also survived by his daughters, Michelle (Shelly) Zeiher and Kim Vaccaro; son, Matt Zeiher; grandchildren, Logan Vaccaro, Kendall and Peyton Zeiher; sister, Jane Zeiher; brother, Alan Zeiher and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mark is preceded in death by his son-in-laws, Matt Vaccaro, in May 2009, Chris Hite, in May 2010 and his father-in-law, Salvador Tovar in September 2000.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH. Following the committal ceremony, the family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon at the American Legion, 3615 Hayes Ave., Sandusky.

Those wishing to contribute to Mark's memory may do so to Cancer Services of Erie County 505 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky, OH 44870.
