Thelma Lucille Turnley

Thelma Lucille Turnley passed away Sunday morning, April 26, after a brief illness. She was 89.

The daughter of Delmas Dingess and Sally Farris-Conley, Lucille (Lucy) was born in Shively, West Virginia.

She married Howard Turnley in 1941 in Arthurdale, West Virginia, and they moved to Norwalk in 1956 with their five children. In addition to Mother, Lucille played many roles, including softball player, volleyball player, grandmother, great grandmother, gardener, and card player. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Norwalk, Ohio.

Following Howard's death in1985, Lucy continued her career as Mom, Gramma, and Mamoo to five children, Rich (Shirley), Brenda, Tom, Jim (Mary Jo) and Joe (Jan); by five grandchildren, Julie (Deb) Turnley, John (Charla) Turnley, Annie (Chris) Miller Ryan (Tiffany) Turnley, and Ashley (David) Bowman; and eight great grandchildren, Patrick, Aiden, Liam Turnley, Noah and Eden Bowman, and Chloe, Kate, and Ethan Miller.

Lucille is preceded in death by her eldest son, Rich in 2008, by her sister, Pauline Thompson; and brothers, Clyde Dingess, Tracey Conley, and James Dale. She was also preceded in death by her sisters in law, Doris Turnley, and Jean Turnley.

She is survived by her sister, Peggy Tomblin of Columbus, Ohio.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Walker Funeral Home, followed by burial at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Bogart Road, Huron, Ohio. Rev. Dr. Brian Oglesbee will officiate. Following burial, friends and family are invited to share memories, laughter, and a tear or two, in the fellowship hall at the First United Methodist Church, 60 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio.
