Donald E. Troike, Sr.

Donald E. Troike, Sr., 89, of Sandusky, died Saturday morning, June 20, 2015 while in Stein Hospice after a brief illness.

He was born July 13, 1925 in Sandusky to the late John T. Troike and Esther Troike Seible.

He was a graduate of Sandusky High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from September of 1943 until February of 1946 in the 541st Parachute Infantry Regiment as a medic. Donald was a Sandusky Firefighter for 27 years until he retired in 1980 as a captain for the department. He attended Zion Lutheran Church of Sandusky, serving on the church council, past chairman of the evangelizing committee, Sunday school and Bible study teacher and was a member of the choir from 1961 until 2003. He was a volunteer for Lutheran Social Services Market Basket program as the program coordinator for Erie County.

He is survived by his children, Donald (Carol) Troike, Jr. of Denver, CO, Steven (Cedeania) Troike of Fostoria, OH, Randy (Marla) Troike of Castalia and Candy (Arnold) Leedy of Sandusky; brother in law, James Hughson of Wadsworth, OH; 11 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joyce (Middleswarth); his parents, brother, Roland C. Troike of Perrysburg, OH and step father John Seible.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The Rev. Ralph Schibler will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870
