Frank Thomas Yako

Frank Thomas Yako, 78, of Kelleys Island, OH, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2015.

He was a US Army Veteran; was employed as a mechanic with Otis Elevator for 37 years (Union Local 17); was a member of the Kelleys Island Volunteer Fire Department; a member of St. Michael's Parish, Kelleys Island, and the VFW Post 9908. Frank enjoyed fishing, playing cards, telling stories, driving his golf cart on Kelleys Island, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife Christine (Avarello) of 55 years; his six children and their spouses, Frank Robert (Sue), Deborah Phinney, Mark (Gail), Michelle (Wayne) Moore, Michael (Fe), and Lisa (Brad) Blackwell; and his fourteen grandchildren, Shannon, Elizabeth (Josh Janosik), and Jared Moore; Nicholas, Matthew, and Angela Yako; David and Sarah Phinney; Bridget and Rachel Yako; Connor Yako; and Hannah, Gretchen, and Grace Blackwell; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Frank is pre-deceased by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth, his brother, Robert, and sister, Delores Danvic.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ransom Funeral Home, Castalia. The family will receive family and friends at A. Ripepi & Sons Funeral Home, 18149 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights on Monday, July 20 2015, from 3 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 W. 130th Street, Brunswick. A reception will immediately follow the funeral service at A. Ripepi & Sons Funeral Home. On Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at 10 AM there will be a Mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Kelleys Island. Interment will be in Kelleys Island Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Fragile X Foundation (www.fragilex.org).
