Ellis Wraggs, Jr.

Ellis Wraggs, Jr., 77, of Sandusky, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Ellis was born on April 15, 1938in Louisville, Miss. to the late Zellie Lee Steele and Robert Lee Wraggs.

Ellis, along with his childhood sweetheart, Ruby Hardin (also of Louisville), relocated to Sandusky, where they were married in 1972. Out of this union five children were born.

Ellis was employed for a number of years at American Crayon Co., Waldock Packing Co., and Sandusky Cabinet, from which he retired.

His favorite enjoyments were family reunions, fishing, hunting, and caring for his animals - at one time he raised chickens in his backyard. He also enjoyed music, with his preference being the Blues, cutting grass, and planting his garden.

Ellis accepted Christ at an early age. He was a lifelong member of Old Ship A.M.E. Zion Church, Sandusky.

Ellis leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 43 years, Ruby Wraggs; son, Alton Wraggs, of Parma, Ohio; five daughters, Sherron (Minister Howard K.) Carr, Angela and Debra Wraggs, Brenda (Minister Dale) Irby, all of Sandusky, and Artisha Williams, of Youngstown, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rosemary (Eddie) Miller and Sally Bell, both of Louisville, Miss., and Carrie (Randolph) Yancey, of Sandusky; brother, Frankie Lee Steele, of Louisville, Miss.; special cousin, Janet Philon, of Sandusky; special niece, Sharon Parker, of Montgomery, Ala.; special nephew, Jeffery Hardin, of Sandusky; special friends, Steve Brown and Cindy Knight, both of Sandusky, and Cindy Smith, of Parma, Ohio; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Helen Parker; brother, Willie James Steele; and grandson, JeMarious "Rocket" Wraggs.

Friends may call on Friday, July 24, 2015 from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Minister Howard K. Carr and Minister Dale Irby will officiate. Pastor Randy M. Reed, of Cleveland, will provide the eulogy. Burial will follow on Oakland Cemetery.
